This article pretends to show the lack of sacrality of the maghribian rulers who are not bestowed of any kind of miraculous power. Rather, power is viewed as something pernicious, always subjected to the opposition of religious circles, saints and fuqahā’; an opposition that finds its resolution in rejecting any contact with the sultan or in critizicing the Makhzan's administration.
