The anonymous text of Kitāb mafājir al-barbar and the war against Ḥasan b. Qannūn are analyzed in order to show the spread of the Banū Marwān’s authorithy in al-Maġrib. It is based on the distribution of honour presents —ẖil‘a— and coins between the Imazigen chiefs and members of the Idrisid lineage.
