This article considers the sources that appear in the Filāḥa fārisiyya, a work attributed to Cassianus Bassus Scholasticus, which has never been published in Arabic. We focus on two manuscripts: number 540 in the Bibliotheca Universitatis Leidensis and the Selden Superius 21 in the Bodleian Library. The content of both is briefly analysed and, following a detailed study of the different authors, we discuss the transmission of this treatise on agronomy to al-Andalus, mainly through the work of the agronomist Ibn al-‘Awwām. Finally, by way of conclusion, a number of questions are raised in relation to this study and certain problematic aspects of these sources of information are discussed
